These are Polar Bear Tracks on the tundra near Churchill, MB. And, as is commonly the case, they told a partial story that gave me pause to think. We could tell that two polar bears had used the "pathway" (with one following the other and stepping in the first bear's tracks). Then, for no apparent reason, the path of tracks split, with one bear wandering off in one direction and the second in another direction. Were the bears traveling together or was the second bear just saving energy by using the first bear's tracks? What prompted the bear to split off? Guess I'll never know...
